Levitan is known to everyone as the most famous Russian landscape painter. In this picture we see a picture that is not quite familiar to him - a still life.
Nothing distracts the viewer from the semantic spot: the artist did not create a single detail around the flower vase, for which the viewer could catch his eye. All attention is paid to flowers: cornflowers divinely beautiful in their simplicity. Simple wildflowers impress with their splendor. It would seem that ordinary cornflowers are the same, similar to each other. But each of this small bouquet of cornflower flower attracts special attention. Each of them has its own special shade. Here, the viewer will find bright blue cornflowers, and with a slight shade of purple, and pigeon, and pink, and even white cornflowers.
All flowers are of different lengths: it seems that the bouquet was collected in a hurry, without much attention. Together with cornflowers, a pair of ears of wheat was woven into the bouquet - they are unlikely to stand in the vase on purpose, most likely, they were caught by carelessly collecting the bouquet.
But it is in this negligence that a special charm is hidden. There is no obsession or pathos in the bouquet - simple flowers are pleasing to the eye, I do not pretend to a special title.
Cornflowers stand in an ordinary clay pot of a greenish tint. It is not appropriate for such flowers to pick up special vases - against the background of a simple pot, they played even brighter, became even bluer or whiter. It seems that all shades of blue and blue have gathered in this particular bouquet, and the second one will never be collected.
Below on the table, covered with a light, unremarkable tablecloth, is already a pair of petals - well, the century of cornflowers is short, they will all crumble very soon. The tablecloth merges with the wall - there is no separation between them. There is a feeling that the flower pot just hovered in the air - it was precisely in fleeting beauty that the artist captured it.
