Most Soviet schoolchildren know the picture of Fyodor Pavlovich Reshetnikov “Again Two”. Many students find themselves in a similar situation when a bad mark is received, and parents need to be informed about it.
This canvas is very convenient for description in that it is multifaceted. It is interesting to observe how the Soviet interior is designed, reflecting the lifestyle of ordinary working people of the post-war period (The picture was painted in 1952).
This family does not live so badly: the room has good furniture, a carpet on the floor, a bicycle with a younger boy. Children are well dressed at the time. Apparently, the family did not lose their father during the war, and the children have everything they need to study well. But, apparently, the older boy does not live up to the expectations of his parents. He again brought a poor grade from school.
The most important thing in the picture is the incredibly expressive figures and faces of people. The artist portrayed a family that meets a goofy loser. He did not return immediately from school, fearing punishment.
The older sister, undoubtedly an excellent pupil and activist, has already managed to do her homework and now she is judging and sternly looking at her twin brother. He stands in the middle of the room, looking away from everyone. He is still ashamed of his own misconduct. But, unfortunately, it is not being repeated for the first time, because the mother is tired of this behavior of her son.
Sitting on a chair, she looks with reproach and regret at her eldest son. On the one hand, her gaze shows a desire to punish a child, and on the other hand, pity for him is visible.
And the younger brother, who does not yet know what school is, has fun from everything that happens. And only the faithful dog is glad the arrival of the owner. He is completely indifferent to what he brought in the diary.
The artist depicted emotions and feelings, the lifestyle of children of the difficult post-war period, who remember the hardships of war.
